Our current programs to help the people of Kenya:

LTO intends to implement her activities within the following programs (departments):

1.      Health and OVC programme (HOPE)

2.      Water, Agriculture and Environment programme (WAGREP)

3.      Missions, Education, Capacity Building Program (MECAP)

4.      Disaster Management programme (DISMAP)

5.      Micro Enterprise Development programme (MEDEP)

6.      Volunteer Program (VP)

 

The following are the specific objectives for each of these programs:

 

(A) HOPE -Health and OVC program

1.      Training Community Health workers

2.      Establish community pharmacies

3.      Organise medical camps

4.      Provide sanitary facilities in rural areas

5.      Carry out mitigation measures for endemic diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS

6.      Initiate and support children homes in various centres to address the issue of OVCs

7.      Provide health care to OVCs

8.      Carry out research on pertinent issues facing the community in the health sector

 

(B) WAGREP -Water, Agriculture and Environment

1.      Introduce water-harvesting technologies

2.      Construction of dams, earth dams, drilling shallow wells/boreholes

3.      Provide certified seeds and farm inputs to poor small-scale farmers and agricultural groups

4.      Offer consultancy on the cultivation of a wide variety of crops

5.      Demonstrate modern farming techniques

6.      Establish Demonstration Farms and Farmer Field Schools

7.      Conduct environmental impact assessment for proposed projects

8.      Initiate tree nurseries and foster forestry and agroforestry practices in the communities

 

(C) MECAP -Missions, Education, Capacity Building Program

1.      Carry out compassionate evangelistic missions to all people

2.      Hold prayer convocations and offer spiritual counselling for all people

3.      Support faith based programs targeting the community

4.      Recruit and receive missionaries willing to work with the communities

5.      Distribute tracts, Christian literature, and Bibles to various people

6.      Provide support programmes for both primary and secondary education

7.      Provide training facilities to vocational and youth training centres

8.      Facilitate community capacity building for projects sustainability

9.      Provide teaching aids to OVCs Centres

 

(D) DISMAP -Disaster Management

1.      Respond to natural catastrophes by providing emergency relief/aid

2.      Training communities on disaster preparedness

3.      Collaborate with the government national disaster committee on issues related to disaster

4.      Support peace building and conflict management in conflict areas

 

(E) MEDEP -Micro Enterprise Development

1.      Empower women and the youth through a micro-enterprise program

2.      Train community groups on small-scale enterprise

3.      Extend seed funding to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in rural, urban and peri-urban centres

4.      Identify and offer advice to the communities on viable businesses

5.      Collaborate with other micro finance institutions

(F) VP-Volunteer Program
